I only advanced time an hour. There were some important messages delivered this turn and I want to give players enough time to react to them.

LVDA - 0630 19 April 1809

As an aid to players, I will be posting updates to game progress here, as well as sending an email and updating the forum. For readers not involved - I am umpiring a PBEM operational Kriegsspiel of Napoleon's 1809 campaign on the Danube. We are using the Le Vol de l'Aigle  rules.

I am waiting orders from at least one player. Please send these to me ASAP.

I'm mulling some changes in turn reporting. Expect some additional information each turn.

For God's Sake Don't Risk The Cannons

Hello from sunny Carmel, Indiana, where Spring seems to have finally arrived. We had severe weather this week and temperatures are finally into the 70s F. A normal person would spend more time outside. I slid back the sunroof cover in my car on the drive home Thursday and ended up with a sunburned head. My genetics clearly make me suited only for northern England.

Newsletter

I have things that I occasionally want to share that I don't want to do a blog post on for whatever reason. Usually I share these on Facebook, but I'm really not keen on Facebook for a number of reasons.

Email newsletters are a "blast from the past" that are coming back, largely as a reaction to the walled gardens of social media. If an email newsletter is good enough for Warren Ellis, it's good enough for me. I've set one up. You can subscribe over in the right-hand there on this blog, or via the subscribe page. Most likely a lot that's been posted to Facebook in the past will show up here.

Update: Well, this plan seems to be going awry. The newsletter software I chose to use, Tinyletter, is now owned by Mailchimp and is being phased out. That's probably why it refuses to send my newsletter. Why they're continuing to allow sign-ups is beyond me.

I'll be looking for an alternative, but it doesn't seem like there's much that really replaces Tinyletter. Everything else is really designed for marketing. I'm not marketing. I just want to send a newsletter. I'll be removing the subscription link from the sidebar until I can figure something out...

Dispatch - April 21, 2019

I've spent the past couple of hours punching and clipping Joan of Arc's Victory 1429 and Harold Buchanan's Campaigns of 1777. I need to give my hands and wrist a break from the clipper.

I'm hoping to play both games in the next couple of weeks. Terri (my wife) seems interested in both. We've visited Brandywine, Saratoga, and Fort Ticonderoga in the past couple of years. The character of Joan appeals to her. She can relate to these games more than others in my collection.

Table of Ultimate Gaming

After much waiting and a bit of construction yesterday, I finally have my Table of Ultimate Gaming! I'm very pleased with it. It's very roomy and extremely sturdy. The electrical outlets and USB charging ports are a nice feature as well for longer gaming sessions.

Saturday Night Fights - Fighting Sail

Jim and I play a game of Osprey's "Fighting Sail." This is a fun set of rules that I immediately bought after we played. I can use this with my collection of ships from "Sails of Glory" to play larger fleet actions!
