Speaking of Kriegsspiel...

Full map view of the start of a scenario

The red Main Body encounters the blue Advance Guard

Red cavalry charge

Scenario set up for Origins Kriegsspiel game I ran this year. Blue is defending the town, Red must take it.

Another Origins scenario. This one is a meeting engagement
I'm thinking seriously about pulling together a group of interested Kriegsspiel players in the Midwestern US. This group would play some games PBEM/forum, and have 2-3 live events every year. Let me know if you're interested in the comments.

  1. Hi Doug,

That sounds interesting, I would be happy to take part on such a game over the Internet.

By the way, those Kriegsspiel materials are DIY or did you get them off a physical or virtual shelf?

    1. Good to hear from you! Stay tuned, I'll be putting together an online game soon.

The Kriegsspiel materials come from Too Fat Lardies for the maps and rules, and from Photoncutter Studios for the blocks and rulers.

    2. Is the Map, the Meckel map? Does it come with multiple maps?

    3. Yes, that's a section of the Meckel map. The entire map is huge, probably 6x this.

  4. I would be interested in playing Kriegsspiel by PBEM. I've recently purchased the Too Fat Lardies rules and Meckel Map. Purchased blocks from Command Post Games.

  5. I live in the UK but I can still do PBEM I guess. I have played Kriegsspiel games here before.

    Cheers, Richard

  6. Greetings from Norway

I saw the pictures of this war game and just fell in love. I live in a small town in Norway, so it will be very hard to find someone to play here life so how could I join by PBEM? Are there any digital copies of the rules and maps?

    Greeting Theo

    1. Hi Theo. You can get digital versions of the rules and maps from Too Fat Lardies (https://toofatlardies.co.uk/). There are a couple of versions of the 1824 Kriegspiel available using Table Top Simulator from Steam.

You should also check out Armchair Dragoons, an online community where several of us run PBEM Kriegspiel games (https://www.armchairdragoons.com).
