Arrived: Ghost Panzer

Thanks to the efforts of the good folks over at Grogheads, I'm returning to my long abandoned board gaming roots! It's been over 20 years since I bought a board game, and I honestly thought I never would again. Playing Lock n Load: Heroes of Stalingrad and Conflict of Heroes computer versions reawakened an interest in shuffling cardboard chits around paper maps.

Carefully removing Circle of Fire counters from the sprue and clipping them
I dipped my toe in first with Circle of Fire, a magazine game from Against the Odds magazine focused on the siege of Cholm in 1942.

It didn't take long before I was looking at the various modern WWII tactical games. Praise by some Grogheads forum members for the Band of Brothers system led me to order the latest title in the series,  Ghost Panzer.

The box, not yet out of the shipping box!

A bit blurry, but you can make out the gist of what the game is about.

Game components. I really like the art and the large counters. The maps, while not mounted, are on very heavy cardstock and are very nicely printed.
I'm really looking forward to giving this game a try! I've already been messing with it and reading the rules via VASSAL and Board Game Geek. Having the printed game is another matter entirely, though.

Expect to see some expanded blogging here as I begin to talk about some of my board gaming. The big kickoff will be my upcoming trip to Origins Game Fair next week in Columbus Ohio. I'll be helping out the Grogheads team acting as a GM for a couple of games and am really looking forward to attending the Origins War College sessions. Grogheads will have quite the set up, so if you're planning on attending, be sure to stop by!

  1. Looks good! I have been mulling a purchase of Command and Colours for a few years now.
